Lina María Ferreira Cabeza-Vanegas is the author of Don’t Come Back (Mad River Books, 2017) and Drown/Sever/Sing (Anomalous Press, 2015). Her fiction, nonfiction, poetry and translation work has appeared in Bellingham Review , Brevity , Chicago Review , Fourth Genre , Poets & Writers , and Sunday Rumpus ,among others. She is the recipient of the 2016 Rona Jaffe Foundation Writers’ Award and Iron Horse Review’s 2009 Discovered Voices Award and was published in the 2009 Best of the Net anthology. She earned MFAs in creative nonfiction and literary translation from the University of Iowa. She moved from Colombia to China to Columbus to Richmond, Virginia, where she is an assistant professor at Virginia Commonwealth University.
Mark Doty is the author of eight books of poetry, most recently Fire to Fire: New and Selected Poems (2008), School of the Arts (2005), and Source: Poems (2001), all from HarperCollins Publishers. The most recent of his five collections of nonfiction prose, Dog Years (HarperCollins, 2007), was a New York Times bestseller and winner of the Stonewall Award from the American Library Association. His work has won many additional awards, including the National Book Critics Circle Award, the Bingham Poetry Prize, the Los Angeles Times Book Prize, a Whiting Writers Award, and Britain’s T. S. Eliot Prize from the Poetry Book Society, which he received for his earlier collection My Alexandria (University of Illinois Press, 1993), selected by Philip Levine for the National Poetry Series. Doty currently teaches at the University of Houston, and divides his time between Houston and Provincetown, Massachusetts.
